Ask anyone... Finding a place to live in New York City can be a nightmare! Here at LeasePass, we have built a more efficient method to share sensitive information when looking for a new apartment.

Here’s how to use LeasePass:

• 1. Create a profile and upload documents to our secure online servers
• 2. Click on the "brokers tab" and find your broker.
• 3. Click the "GRANT ACCESS" button
• 4. Safely share your private info with brokers and landlords of your choosing

Now you will be able to share your information without carrying around a hard copy of your documents. Not only will you be able to share your LeasePass profile with brokers virtually, but you will have a record of who has viewed your information.

To share your profile, you can either

• 1. Enter your brokers email address in the under "share my profile with brokers" at the bottom of your profile or,
• 2. Search for your broker under the "Brokers" page and grant access directly by clicking the "grant access" button. If for any reason you feel like a broker is not using your information properly, simply revoke their access.
  

Renter FAQ

How much does it cost to sign up with LeasePass?

Nothing. We know that finding an apartment in NYC is not cheap, so we don't want to add to that. We want to give renters a safe resource to use, not make things more expensive for them.

Why does it say how long my profile is active?

45 days. We want you to find an apartment fast, but in case in case it takes you a while, we need to make sure your info is up to date and relevant. We also want to make sure that we protect inactive renters by destroying profile contents after 45 days. If you have any questions about renewing your profile after 45 days, feel free to email us at renters@leasepass.com.

What if I don't see my broker listed?

Well then tell them to sign up for LeasePass! Simply type in their broker e-mail address and they will be prompted to sign up. It doesn't mean that they are not valid NYC real estate professionals, just that they haven't jump on the LeasePass bandwagon yet.

How can I share my profile after I sign up?

First off, you can search for your broker in LeasePass and hit the "Grant Access" button and an email will be sent to them directly. Or you simply type in a valid broker email address to share with your friendly neighborhood broker.

How safe is LeasePass?

Very. We have gone through a lot of precautions to ensure that your information is well guarded. The rental process is enough of a headache, and we don't want to add to it. Know that your identity and privacy are of utmost importance to us. For more information, check out our privacy policy.

Can a broker see my information if I don't grant them access?

Nope. Unless you grant them access directly or you enter the email of a registered broker, then brokers have no knowledge of your profile

What if I don't have all the information listed?

That's alright. The more information you can provide the better. And remember to be honest. If you aren't, then you will waste your time and the time of your broker/landlord, because they will find out the truth when it comes time to sign the lease.

What if I don't feel comfortable uploading all the documents listed?

Not a problem. Again, the idea is to give your broker/landlord as much information as possible on the front end, so when it comes time to sign a lease, they have all the appropriate paperwork. The more information you can provide then upfront, the easier it will be down the road.

Should I share my information with a broker without meeting them in person?

We recommend that you meet your real estate professional in person first. While we take as much care as possible to vet the brokers signed up, know that you should safeguard your identity whenever you can. That being said, you can share your LeasePass profile page virtually at any point in the rental process.
